Environmental Design and Adaptation

Able 2 has 15 years of working with Local Authority surveyors, with regard to providing necessary and appropriate adaptations for individuals living in their own home.

We work with Home Improvement Agencies, Grant Surveyors, Architects, Housing Associations, to name but a few.

We are aware of the increasing restraints on the funding available to undertake such work and to ensure that the recommended scheme is reasonable and practicable for the needs of the disabled person.

Our occupational therapists are experienced in quickly assessing the clients needs and designing a bespoke adaptation which enables the Disabled Facilities Grant to be progressed quickly and efficiently.

We ensure that the service user takes ownership of the proposed work through careful negotiation. This is to ensure that the service user is able to focus from their preferred option to an adaptation that can be considered reasonable and practicable,and thus eligible for Disabled Facilities Grant consideration.

To enable the service to be provided we produce:

• Scaled drawings
• Detailed specifications with all measurements and product information
• Joint visits as required
• Full administrative support and backup

This enables the surveyor to progress the scheme with the minimal query or amendment.

Another linked scheme that we are involved in is to assist the Housing Authority of the needs of its tenants when renovating and upgrading bathrooms and kitchens. Thus they are able to provide usable facilities which reduces the need for adaptations and complete replacement of a new bathroom.
