There is such a range on the market, all advising that they can do certain things. How do you decide which one to go for?

Through the assessment of your individual needs, Occupational Therapists are skilled at identifying the reasons for your functional difficulties and considering how they can be resolved in a professional and appropriate way.

Two of the Authorities in which we work have already implemented the Retail Model and we are now issuing prescriptions to our service users enabling them to obtain their equipment from local retailers, ensuring that all of our service users are fully involved with any choices and decisions that are made.

Our Occupational Therapists are aware of a portfolio of equipment that is available to enable you to increase your level of independence, abilities and assist carers to provide care appropriately and safely. We recognise that it is not always possible to provide an Occupational Therapy solution to your needs as presented and our role is to ensure that you and other clients have the information and advice to make appropriate choices which are important to you with consideration to your family/social situation, culture and environment. It is implicit within our role as Occupational Therapists that we facilitate independence and maximise the level of control, involvement and quality that you have in your life.

We will provide full details of recommended equipment, manufacturers/suppliers and arrange for home demonstrations to be carried out if required thereby enabling you to make an informed and appropriate choice.
